The Clip Show

Happy New Year everybody. I've got a lot of fun articles in store for 2008, covering everything from photography, filmmaking, visual effects, movie marketing, and any other garbage that's floating around in my melon.

In the meantime, let's take a look back at some of the red-letter articles from FXRant in 2007.

April 2007, "Hey, I Know That Shot!"
Some screenshots of my shot from "Pirates 2" appearing on the Academy Awards telecast.

May 2007,
"New Term: 'Professional Screenplay Filmer'"
Slamming an easy target, Brett Ratner.

May 2007,
"Appearing As Himself: Sam Elliott"
This is just funny. Hopefully, this will be a recurring segment on FXRant.

June 2007,
"The 'Shouldabeen' Lois Lane"
Instead of Kate Bosworth, Bryan Singer should have cast Rashida Jones as Lois Lane.

June 2007, "'Ratatouille' and the Moving Camera"
Brad Bird is the best live-action director of animated features in the business.

July 2007,
"Awful Movie Poster: 'Rumor Has It...'"
Bad movie, bad poster.

July 2007,
All "Transformers" Visual Effects Reviews
Snippets from film critics' mentions of the visual effects from "Transformers."

August 2007, "Fearmongering"
Do you have a fantasy of shooting children in the back? So do these guys.

October 2007,
"Good, Thankless Effects: 'Stealth'" [and the introductory article]
Digital Domain makes pretty imagery for a bankrupt film.

October 2007,
"Some Photos from Adapt"
Pictures of me looking like I know what I'm talking about, at the Adapt Conference in Montreal.

November 2007,
"Camera Shake Citation: 'The Sentinel'" [and the introductory article]
Our very first ticket handed out for poor use of digital camera shake. Many more to come.

November 2007, "Movie Marketing is Hard! 'Beowulf' and '300'"
FXRant's most popular article, comparing the marketing of "Beowulf" and "300."

December 2007,
"The Polluting Sky: 'Die Hard with a Vengeance'"
Analyzing an in-camera shot from "Die Hard 3," and how an overexposed sky affects the foreground.
